Recently, we worked with a Texas employer to implement Ansel as a simpler alternative to traditional accident and critical illness plans so that employees could get coverage for more conditions and an easier way to access their supplemental benefits.

The Challenge

A Texas-based restaurant and food supplier offered employees the option to buy accident and critical illness plans, but many were frustrated by how difficult it was to navigate these voluntary benefits. The broker told us they were overwhelmed by the lengthy and overcomplicated claims process and frequent denials. As a result, many of the employees were not gaining value from their voluntary benefits.

The Solution: Employer-Paid Ansel

The broker felt Ansel’s easy enrollment and education platform, wide ranging coverage, and simplified claims process could serve as an optimal alternative for employees who were looking for more value out of their supplemental health options.

He recommended that the employer offer Ansel Select, a popular voluntary plan design that provides three tiers of Ansel coverage so that employees could opt for a supplemental solution that could meet their needs and budget.

In the end, 24% of the employees participated, half of whom enrolled their whole family. Of those that enrolled, nearly half elected either the mid-level or high-level Ansel plan.

After their coverage started, a child of a company executive had an accident, and Ansel’s customer support team was able to help them get the claim completed right away.

Keys to the Win

“People are opting for Ansel even when they already have access to traditional voluntary benefits. Why? Because Ansel makes what is often complicated simple by cutting out the noise and streamlining the claims process so that employees get real value out of their supplemental plan.” —Scott Burnecke, Regional Sales Director, Ansel

A simplified claims process

Ansel’s simplified plan design and 100% paperless claims process allows employees to file claims in minutes and get paid quickly. Once approved, benefits are typically paid within 72 hours to a member’s PayPal, Venmo, or bank account—helping to minimize the financial strain of an unexpected medical issue.

Wide-ranging coverage that is meant to be used

Injuries and illnesses come in all shapes and sizes. Ansel is a plan that is built to be used. With over 13,000+ covered conditions, employees have more reasons to file a claim, whether it’s for a cut with stitches or cancer.

Personalized coverage to suit specific needs

Employees have different needs and budgets for supplemental health benefits.  Ansel was built with employee personalization in mind—giving employers a range of options that let employees choose the Ansel plan that works best for them.
